Remarkable Alumnae

Salute to Jaymee Clarisse L. Cruz and to all our bold, brave, and beautiful alumnae in healthcare and in their respective missions.

Thank you, Jaymee for sharing a piece of yourself. May you be light to our young Paulinians and many others.

“Working in the pandemic as a young, registered nurse has been a steep learning curve for me. It takes great courage and strength for a front liner like me not to falter when your patients ask with teary eyes if they will make it, when you know so well what the outcome will be. After seeing so many deaths and hearing cries of family members over Facetime since they can’t see or hold their infected loved ones for the last time, it breaks you. It breaks you down and makes you question why you chose this profession. How many more COVID waves can I take? How much more can my coworkers and I endure?

Just when you think that you have exhausted your willpower to serve, one little glimmer of hope arises when you take care of one or two survivors who get downgraded from the Intensive Care Unit. I then realized how important it is for me to be the source of strength for these patients who have no close kin to turn to during their hospitalization. I need to muster up the courage to make them feel that they are not alone in this fight. Most people succumb to COVID, and that’s the reality of this pandemic.

But at the end of the day, as long as I know that I’ve given my all to help advocate for my patients, I go home with the feeling of acceptance. I accept all of the challenges that lie ahead me as a healthcare professional. I accept the fact that I cannot save everyone. And most importantly, I accept my humanity. I will feel human emotions as I process the events of this pandemic, and I know that it’s okay. Borrowing from the words of author Nicholas Sparks, “The emotion that can break your heart is sometimes the very one that heals it…”. With God’s loving grace, I continue to heal myself so that I may help heal others–beautifully.”

A special shout-out to our dear SPCP HS alumna, Ayla Reyes, for bravely sharing her bold and beautiful college thesis on social media recently. Ayla’s post went viral, garnering almost 28,000 shares in barely a week!

“Anomali: You are a Work of Art” wittingly advocates diversity and inclusivity. Using her God-given talent in the visual arts, Ayla exquisitely rendered a modern twist on classic art pieces with the thoughtful selection of her muses. In the process, she has elevated the essence of beauty and perfection.

Way to go, Ayla!
Continue touching lives with your meaningful works of art.
Your St. Paul College family is very proud of you.

Message from the President

Having left the hallowed halls of our beloved school, we have carved our own paths to where we are today. In our journey, we faced trials, jumped for joy at accomplishments, shed tears at every stumbling block.

In everything we have done, we have been living testaments of the teachings of St. Paul who lives in each of us.

We are unique creations and special gifts from God. We are daughters of St. Paul. We are members of one Paulinian family.

As one family, we are there for one another, for every rise and for every fall. For as our dear Patron has said, “If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy” (1 Corinthians 12:26).

Always remember that together, WE CAN do great things and WE WILL do great things.
